As always with the constant endeavour to bring you all something unique each time, we are back with an Exclusive Interview with our very own ‘Govinda’ upcoming singer Aman G Trikha. Singer of the reprise version of Go Go GoGovinda for the movie OMG – Oh My God, who is very kindly giving us his first ever interview about the song on the world wide web!

Please tell us how your journey as a singer began...what made you
want to be a playback singer for Bollywood?
A: Well..It was all so dramatic & unorthodox...I had never imagined that I’ll be a singer one day... It was in 2005 & I was in my 1st year of my ‘Electronics & Telecommunication’ Engineering..when I discovered that I could even sing !
Though sense of music & notations were God-given & I used to play keyboards since childhood as a hobby , there was no proximity of anything related to singing.
But call it a co-incidence or a divine call , my few hums in the classroom got my classmates inspired & they insisted me to compete in our college-cultural fest.
Before I could gather, I
was the runner-up in the singing competition there & rest as they say, is
history!
From thereon , an already present unexplainable addiction of music got to another level altogether. Inter-collegiate competitions, contests, events were a routine now, representing college everywhere....
And a call from somewhere inside was slowly but surely saying that , THIS has to be my walk of life, just like a thirsty, gets to see an oasis in the middle of a desert !

Once the realisation came about, how did you begin to materialise
this dream?
A: Once I realised that music &
singing was my life & breath, life around me was shaken up. My mom-dad are
big music fanatics, my biggest teachers & critics. But the matter of the
fact , they were completely surprised to see the level of passion & madness
for music, I was oozing with. This affected my studies too & being an
academic topper , it was really hard to deal with. But through persistence,
hardwork & belief in God, I graduated through my engineering with First
Class Distinction.
From thereon , infact
during my college days too , my struggle began.
I used to visit studios/seating rooms of different musicians/music-composers of the industry , dropping my voice sample CDs everywhere !
That phase of your journey is important...Waiting in the sun, getting drenched in the sweat & rain , running behind buses/trains , with that small hope that I get to meet atleast one composer that day. This was the routine of everyday....
What I dreamt of , was really BIG & without any so called godfather , full of obstacles. So naturally, the efforts had to be constant, dynamic & extraordinary.

How was your experience of working with Himeshji and how did the
collaboration come about?
A: He’s UNDOUBTEDLY GOD in a way & very much a father-figure
to me...
One just cannot ask for a better mentor than him...His mere presence is so infectious !
One of a kind personality in this industry..he sees nothing but your inner talent & what lies beneath your soul...coz he himself is like that ... Soulful & honest-par- excellence !
I ‘m plainly blessed to have got this opportunity to be sharing the same space with him , jamming & recording with him. Its his sheer love & belief in me , that He showers upon me all the time . It makes me feel proud to be a Himesh Reshammiya (HR) Musik Prodigy and I am lucky to have this break from HR Musik. I pray to God for it to be the same Always ! God bless him with all the happiness J

How was your overall experience at HR Musik?
A:
HR Musik gave me all that which a singer/artist can only dream of ! The
gesture with which everyone from Himesh sir , to musicians , to working
staff welcomed & greeted me is SO
amicable , overwhelming & homely.
The support & warmth they shower is impeccable & unmatched. You can feel it in air. I’m obliged & thankful to say the least !

How easy/difficult was it to sing a song like Go Go Go Govinda?
A: While recording ,due to the way
dubbing is carried out, it’s little
complex to maintain the same level of intensity & flow throughout such a
high-voltage thumping number. Himeshji is very particular with the way a song
is shaped up & the song as it seems easy to sing & listen, isn’t so. It
has these little- little nuances which can make or break the scanning of the
composition.
Himeshji’s brief was simple...Attitude + Dhamaal + Power + Dance !
So , I’m greatful to Himeshji’s indispensable guidance & Mata Raani’s aashirwaad that all went smooth & clean !

Did you personally expect Go Go
Go Govinda to rule the charts like this ?
A: Go Go Govinda is the best thing to
have happened to me !
To tell you the truth , I had gone bonkers with joy & josh , when I was being made to hear this song, the very first time in the recording room & in hearts of hearts , i said to myself, “Beta Hit haii yeh !” But this that it would be a tear-away chartbuster becoming number #1 everywhere , I hadn’t imagined. It clearly shows how much
GO GO GOVINDA has been loved , cherished & blessed !
This one song was nothing but a bundle of responsibilities to fulfil , being one of the most important tracks of the entire ‘OMG- Oh My God’ soundtrack ...
Singing for an icon, who we call as ‘The Indian MJ’ - Prabhudeva sir, has been a sheer honour. I get calls, messages, e-mails from all across the globe of people telling how much they & the little children’re in love with this song, playing & dancing to it on repeats !
Akshay Kumar jii were really very excited to hear the final mix of the song & my voice in it appealed to him so much so that he called me up & congratulated with his blessings !
And getting paired along with the ever-melodious Shreya Ghoshal was a delight & privilege too. She’s infused tremendous amount of energy & naughtiness to the song character Sonakshi Sinha, who danced the best of her lifetime !

What can we expect from you in the future?
A: Music runs in these veins like
blood....So LOTS & LOTS of songs with soulful music..which will enthrall
you , please & entertain you in every emotion.
Dream to cut an album which will have nothing but song for every mood...touching everyone’s hearts...coz I believe if you infuse the unconditional intensity with which you make a song, it strikes a chord with the masses at that very intensity !

singers out there who are trying to follow the same path?
A: Realise your dreams , Wake up to your
Aspirations , Live your Passion ; Have faith in God & start building up on
that path...Hardwork never goes in vain...

I believe you are part of the up-coming musical reality show Sur
Kshetra. How was your experience on the show?
A: Yeahh , it was rather fortunate &
the grandest of things to happen , coz seldom you get a chance to represent
your nation , whom you love so much & this was that one ! It was a lifetime
of an outing & especially when the opponents read neighbour ‘Pakistan’ then
it’s natural to get that ‘raise-your-bar’ attitude with such high-voltage
atmosphere & fierce competition, like any other Indo-Pak encounter.
Being mentored by Himesh ji was God-sent , as no one else would have had that patience & experience to guide so pricelessly, that too on a foreign soil. His dynamic yet friendly personality got me understand sir’s point of view.
And when you have a jury consisting of legends named - Asha Bhosle ji , Runa Laila ji & Abida Parveen ji .. its the test of your musical knowledge & temperament -- of the highest level . Atif Aslam – the pop icon with an amazing stage presence , too used to share his experiences of his numerous concerts he has enthralled audience .
Ayesha Takia as a host was very sweet , friendly & jovial. Gajendra Singh ji , the powerhouse director of Sur Kshetra & Boney Kapoor ji , the mastermind & producer of the show -- had their vision clear , always encouraged , supported both the teams & went the distance to make everyone comfortable there.
I look forward to the show starting from 8th September , hoping everyone loves & blesses me in there with much more wishes & power to India J
